Gola must definitely be one of my favourite Italian restaurants in London. I am Italian and sometimes I am disappointed to see how our food is treated abroad. Italian food is much more than "Spaghetti Bolognese", or "Fettuccini con Polpette". Italian food is inventive, flavoursome, well rounded and and often sophisticated, but never pretentious. Gola is all this! It is what I would expect to find in a top restaurant in Milan. If you are a real food lover, Aaron (the manager) will not disappoint you. He is not just the manager, he is a guy really passionate about food. Ask him to guide you through his menu and help you select the most appropriate wine to go with your meal. Oh yes, the wine! If the menu is great, wait to see the wine list. To my opinion it is a very careful selection of some of the best Italian wines. All this great food and wine can be enjoyed in a relaxed environment where it is easy to spend a whole evening without knowing where the time has gone. The service is informal and very friendly. At times it may be a bit slow, but as I said, this is what you would expect in a real good restaurant in Italy after all. The bill can be a bit expensive. For a whole meal with a good bottle of wine probably you should consider a budget over £40-£45 per head, but hey, top quality food doesn't come cheap! I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area!! Enjoy!

The owner Aaron was rude and the entire staff took a page out of his book and behaved in the same manner. Our orders were incorrect, the food sub-par and the atmosphere spoiled by a loud television blaring in the background. Don't go out, stay in.
